SADNESS - Segregated Metropolis

The current socio-demographic landscape in Chicago has known as one of the most segregated metropolis in the United States in terms of race, class, and ethnicity. This socio-spatial pattern has still influenced and reinforced since the 1930s Home Owners’ Loan Corporation (HOLC) ‘Redlining’ had drawn, which mapped out spatial creditworthiness heavily based on the racial composition of communities. The historical great racial divide is still alive and still influences our perceptions unknowingly. Facing and living with this urban reality and issue is deeply connected to not only at the individual level but also as a collective memory and emotion of sorrow.
